Cycling route around the lakes and sand dunes from Podebrady to Poděbrady

Route: Poděbrady - Písková Lhota - Kostelni Lhota - Sadská - Písty - Nymburk - Kovanice - Poděbrady

The beginning of the route is in Podebrady in the parking lot next to a natural swimming pool Jezero. You can leave your car here, have a swim, freshen up and head out on a route.

• get out of the carpark, cross the road no. 611 and go down towards Polabec

         Tip: Miners church

         Tip: Riding stables Obora

• from the Miners church along a tarmac road, Esperanto alley to the restaurant Obora
• at the restaurant turn right and along the football field to the end of the game reserve (Přední Lhota)
• turn left at the Y-shaped crossroad, after about 200 meters, at the exit to the road, turn left again, after 30 meters go across the intersection with road no. 38 straight on
• pass through Přední Lhota - Průběžná street, turn right at the left-hand turn
• pass through Písková Lhota via Polabská Street, turn left at the intersection with Hořátevská street
• after about 30 metres you arrive at the intersection with road no. 611, turn right - here you move onto the Lhotecká cycle route along which you get to Sadská

       Tip: Municipal Museum Sadská

       Tip: Church of St. Apollinaire of Sadská

• at Palacký Square to the right along the yellow trail to Jezero (Husova, Jindřichova and Lázeňská streets)
• at the intersection of the yellow and red trails turn right and follow the red which runs along the shore of Jezero (or it is possible to bypass it along a tarmac road, which the red trail joins at the car park) and then continue along this road towards the river Labe
• on the bank of the river Labe turn right onto the cycle route 0019 which runs along the left bank of the river to the village Písty and then to Nymburk and Poděbrady

               Tip: Sand dunes Písty - we recommend to take a short detour (about 0.5 km) from the village square along the red trail to the sand dune. This piece of desert is definitely worth a visit.

               Tip: Riding club Komarno - paddocks with horses, show jumping arena

               Tip: Nymburk - historical center of the city on the right bank of the river Labe, accessible via a bridge

               Tip: Poděbrady - historical and spa town on the right bank of the river Labe accessible via a bridge, a castle, a Monument of King George, a hydroelectric power plant, Polabské Museum, Church of Exaltation of the Holy Cross

• the route ends at the hydroelectric plant; You can continue to a footbridge across the river Labe to the city or upstream to the confluence of the rivers Labe and Cidlina or turn right and close the circuit at the swimming pool Jezero

The route is undemanding, runs along paved, mostly tarmac roads and is suitable for trekking and mtb bikes. The route is also suitable for a trip with children.
