Just 30 minutes west of Miami-Dade County, experience how the Miccosukee Indian Tribe existed and still exists in ‘The Heart of the Florida Everglades.’
Visit the Miccosukee Indian Village and let our experienced guides take you on a tour of our history, culture and lifestyle. See a variety of demonstrators and displays from woodcarving to patchwork, beadwork, basket weaving and doll making. Get up close to the Florida Alligator and learn how the species has thrived in the Everglades for centuries.
History and culture are reflected through our renovated Indian Museum. A short film and historical artifacts are also highlighted. Experience the richness of our culture with paintings by Tribal artists and a photo exhibit, which depicts contemporary Miccosukee society.
Crafts range from Authentic Miccosukee patchwork and beadwork to Navajo silver jewelry, which are available for purchase at the Miccosukee Gift Shop.
By airboat, you can take a ride through the vast ‘River of Grass’ and discover a typical hammock-style Indian camp that has been owned by the same Miccosukee family for more than 100 years.
The Miccosukee Restaurant features such delights as World-Famous Miccosukee fry bread, pumpkin bread, Everglades frog legs, ‘gator’ and catfish, as well as, standard American cuisine.
