Lübeck - a medieval Hanseatic town

Lübeck - a medieval workhorse of trade, a port town, a hatchery of intellectuals and the largest town of Schleswig-Holstein. The preserved parts of the medieval town were declared a Cultural Heritage of UNESCO in 1987. Lübeck was included among UNESCO for the character of the town, expressing the medieval urban development for which the town gained its characteristic silhouette with seven towers of the five main churches.
