Frauenkirche ("Church of Our Lady") is a Lutheran baroque church in the centre of Dresden, towering in the Neumarkt square in the heart of the city. The first stone of the future sanctuary was laid in 1726. The Frauenkirche was destroyed in an air raid on Dresden during World War II and was later rebuilt as a symbol of reconciliation between the former warring powers.
