Borovany - a blueberry pearl of South Bohemia

Borovany is a small town in Southern Bohemia, southeast of České Budějovice. The town is surrounded by pine forests, a large number of lakes and bogs. Borovany stretches under the western peaks of Novohradské Mountains and not far from the protected area of Třeboňsko. The river Stropnice flows through the southern edge of the town. The surrounding countryside is suitable for family cycling trips but also for more experienced cyclists, you can choose from numerous offers of cycling routes. The terrain is hilly with varying degrees of ascent and descent in south and west of Borovany. If you set of eastward, towards Třeboň region, the terrain is mostly flat.
