Klatovy railway station | map | video |
Above the Klatovy railway station we join a blue walking path which leads us up through a housing estate to the Hůrka forest park. We go round the right-hand bend while constantly climbing until we reach the peak. There, at former St. Anne´s Chapel (a present-day lookout), we can be glad that the worst is over for us. We find ourselves at the highest point of our ride and there are only descends or small climbs ahead of us. Now we descend a broken road to the edge of a forest where we take the sharp right turn to our next stopping point, which is the Church of St. Martin – a western view point of Klatovy with some beautiful views across the western borderland (Kdyně region, Šumava).
From there, we go downhill along a grassy path to a near-by chapel on a hillside. Be aware of that while hard braking! Below the chapel, you join a fieldpath and follow right direction along the Úhlava river (past a swimming pool) to the road. There, we cross the bridge with the statue of St. John of Nepomuk who guards Tajanov village from floods. At the beginning of Tajanov village we can see a historic landmark on the left, the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk. We follow the marked cycling path number 38 and turn right at junction until we reach the Husín forest (a former barrow burial place). We go round the right-hand bend, through a picturesque Andělice village and we stop at the small crossroad at Dupanda hamlet where we can look round the countryside westward from Klatovy.
Then you go back along a grassy path to Husín (an ideal place for having a last snack and a small rest on a bench because the aim is near) and past its outskirt to Tajanov again. We go through the village along the road that we already know and past the swimming pool back to Klatovy. Now we find ourselves on the red walking path which leads us after 12 kilometres to a tunnel under the railroad and through allotment gardens to the railway station.
