FROM LOUNY AFTER THE GENIUS LOCI WITH EXTRAORDINARY ENERGY
Length of the route: 44 km
Route description:
Archaeological outdoor museum in Březno u Loun – memorial Mělce - Louny - Cítoliby - Brloh - Verner mill (technical monument) - Smolnice - Panenský Týnec- unfinished gothic cathedral - Energy zone No.8 - Peruc - Debeřské Valley - Slavětín - Louny
The route is suitable for families with children, tourist-recreational cyclists. The path follows paved (asphalt) roads or 3rd class roads, the worst is through the city - a combination of a bike path and the normal urban traffic. There is little traffic on the path outside the city. The old salt trail Halle-Prague.
Louny - a town in the middle of menhirs
Louny is the center of the region, where there are menhirs and other mysterious forces. Once there were two menhirs in Louny - one in the western suburbs, on the road to Postoloprty and the other one in the southern part of the town, called Glázrovo field. Unfortunately they are both lost today. At present you can stumble upon a menhir in the wild in Slavětín, where "Baba" has been standing by the roadside for millennia or in Orasice, where 0.2 tons of quartz stone crouches under an old tree, just behind the church. The citizens of Louny also got a menhir affixed. It is standing in the courtyard of the museum and is hidden from the eyes of the visitors. Maybe its energy affects the operation and life of the entire town, maybe it just stands there.
Enthusiasm and joy of life are annually poured into our veins by the Louny lure of the summer, celebration of the town and the river Odra. During these days (15th-17 August 2014), when we celebrate the river, we call it by the old celtic name of Agara and ask her to keep us in favor in the following year, to be friendly to us and to provide sufficient water for ripening hops and grains.
We have a tip for the lovers of mystery. Is that true or not? Who knows? If you want to go in search of a treasure, you have to go on a summer night onto Friday. There is a gold hen with 12 chicks buried in the ground under the old logge. The treasure is said to be guarded by the souls of the nuns and they will not just give it away!
The magic of loci and Louny are almost synonymous and invite you by their irresistibly beautiful nooks for a summer visit. Come and let yourself be affected by the Louny energy!
The route can be managed both on the bike (for a bit more sporty individuals) and by car. It can be managed on foot as well but it takes a bit of enthusiasm. Route: Louny museum (there is a menhir in the courtyard) Orasice, Pátek, Slavětín, Louny.
